Strandby
Strandby, a quiet little town on the eastcoast of Denmark, is not very specially touristminded. Strandby is concentratet about fishery and the harbour is private property.
Shoppingpossibilities are limited to normal needs, but 7 km to south is Frederikshavn and 12 km to north is Aalbæk, where shoppingpossibilities are better.
The norhern beach of Strandby is outstanding, see the pictures on the Startsite, you will always be able to find a quiet and private spot.
For Sightseeing is Stranby the perfect startpoint. You can take the the ferry in Frederikshavn to Göteborg in Sweden for exampel or to Oslo in Norway, visit Museums in Frederikshavn and Skagen, investigate the Harbour or go sightseeing in the landscape.
On the way to the westcoast we have, a city with lots of shops and life. The westcoast has Løkken and Hirtshals, where you should visit the fishauction at 7 am. The Nordsøcenter is placed in Hirtshals too. Even if the big tank got ruined by fire, the Nordsøcenter offers lots of attractions and know how. From Hirtshals it is possible to go by ferry to Norway too.
Fårup Sommerland near Løkken must absolutely be visited. There are lots of activities and a family can easyly stay a whole day. It is possible to grill own food there.
Between Ålbæk and Tversted you find the Eagleworld, an attraction of the better. You can meet the Eagels, watching them be feeded and see them react on the whistle to call them.
A family with children (of any age) is a visit at FarmFun a must, a day at FarmFum is a wonderful experience for the whole family. You can meet and touch many animals and many activities are bidden. Nobody is to young, nobody is to old to find hours of fun. It is wise to bring food, a visit at FarmFun takes time.
In the north on the way to Skagen you can find Råbjerg Mile, a desert, which is wandering cross Denmark. A church before Skagen shows the power of sand, the church is almost burried in it. Gl.Skagen, the old Skagen with many tourist hotels is worth a visit. And a sunset there is wonderful to look at.
Skagen has several museums showing the known paintings of the Skagen artists, who was drown to the special light in Skagen. And everybody must visit Grenen, where Kattegat and Skagerakmeet. Really an attraction, but please - just see - no bath. It is very dangerous because of stream.
